How to prepare for Coronavirus

Coronaviruses are a species of viruses that were discovered in the 1960s but whose origin is still unexplored. Its different species cause different diseases, from a cold to a severe respiratory syndrome (a severe form of pneumonia).

Much of the coronaviruses are not critical and can be treated effectively. In fact, most people get a coronavirus at some time in their life, usually during their childhood. Although they are more frequent in autumn or winter, they can be purchased at any time of the year.

The coronavirus owes its name to the appearance it presents since it is very similar to a crown or a halo. It is a type of virus present in both humans and animals.

In general, the main symptoms of coronavirus infections are usually:

  • Secretion and runny nose.
  • Cough.
  • Fatigue.
  • Sore throat and headache.
  • Fever.
  • Chills and malaise.
  • Shortness of breath (breathlessness)

There is no vaccine against the human coronavirus that causes a cold, but milder cases can be overcome by following the same steps as a common cold. This does not require medical intervention and simply wash your hands frequently, rest, and drink plenty of fluids, the symptoms will disappear within a few days. Painkillers such as ibuprofen or paracetamol can also be taken to relieve sore throats or fever.

The coronavirus has already exploded worldwide, totaling more than 121,500 cases in dozens of countries. So it is recommended to be alert. These are some things you can do to prepare for the arrival of the virus.

1) Use common sense

As with any other disease, basic prevention measures must be taken. If you see someone who is coughing, walk away.

2) Keep calm

Don’t panic. The best thing you can do, experts say, is to remain calm and continue your daily routine. 

3) Staying at home if you are sick

4) Wash your hands frequently

5) Practice good hygiene

Experts recommend that you cough on your elbow instead of your hand. Throw the tissues in the trash after blowing your nose. Keep the surfaces of your house clean. Use alcohol to disinfect.

Always keep your pantry well stocked in case of an emergency. Do not wait until the last minute to fill your ingredients.

But it is possible that the coronavirus, by damaging the lung cells, may increase the chance of getting pneumonia.
